Description
This granite and glass 18-story high-rise office tower is located on a curving divided boulevard at 8144 Walnut Hill Lane, just east of Central Expressway (U.S. Hwy 75). The triangular shaped building was erected in 1985. The architectural drama of this building are the sharp edges of the triangle corners where you can, from the ground only see two sides at one time. The northern most wall or long side of this this isosceles triangle fronts on Walnut Hill Lane while it's east-facing wall runs due north and south and is at a right angle to its south-facing wall that points east and west. A sharp north wind is sliced in two by the building's northeast corner allowing it passage along the east wall while the other half flattens out along the front wall before being allow south after finding the front wall's eastern-most corner. A west wind finds the reverse course, while a Southerly breeze confronts the south wall directly as would the unusual wind out of the east similarly meet the east wall head-on. The building's exterior is a lattice work of red granite surrounding reflecting glass panels except for the entrance area where the glass panels (top to bottom) are translucent.
