Description
On the Fairgrounds in Dallas, Texas, (home each September/October to the State Fair of Texas which was established in 1936 to celebrate the State's centennial) are numerous examples of the Art Deco movement. A long reflecting pool bisects an esplanade on whose shoulders are flanked two Art Deco buildings. These two buildings each have three lighted niches fronted with statues facing the reflecting pool and each other. On the east side are three statues sculpted by Lawrence Tenney Stevens representing national flags of Texas, the CSA and Spain. On the west side are three statues sculpted by Raoul Josett representing Mexico, France and in this poster the United States of America.
