Artist's Description

The fairgrounds called Fair Park and owned by the City of Dallas has been the venue for the annual State Fair of Texas, since 1836 received a distinct honor. In it's bicentennial year, Fair Park was designated a National Historic Landmark. In September of 1986 a capital funding program by the Friends of Fair Park created a campaign for the public to buy bricks, personalized with their name or the name of someone they wish to memorialize, to form a walkway. Thousands of personalized bricks were purchased and laid in what is now called Texas Promenade Walkway or Texas Promenade Brick Walkway. The still growing walkway is a must-see attraction for every fair goer who has a brick in the walkway. The trick is remembering, from year to year where your brick is located! Of course, if your mental GPS isn't working a nearby Friends of Fair Park booth has books in which you can look up the location of your brick or bricks! Happiness is Finding Your Brick at The Great State Fair of Texas.
