Description
When the full moon rose on the evening of April 3rd 2015 it was headed toward moonset and a full erubescent eclipse. Arriving at the Historic Frankford Church at 4:30am, April 4, 2015, I was treated to a full white moon in the cloud-hazy night sky. Having plotted the arc of the moonset I was ready to position the red moon at eclipse. Unfortunately the maximum point of eclipse was charted to occur at 7:14am, three minutes before moonset at 7:17am. As mentioned, the clouds as the eclipse encroached on the moon and the moon approached the horizon it was still shrouded in fuzzying clouds and was going to pass below the tree-line and out of sight before achieving its maximum eclipse/redness. As I waited I snapped a number of photographs of the fuzzy full moon over the church as it was momentarily peeking through the night clouds only visible in the moons glowing penumbra. The Historic Frankford Church & Cemetery are located in north Dallas and maintained by the Frankford Preservation Foundation. Thanks to the FPF for the illumination of the Frankford Church which helped make for a spectacular night-shot.
