Houston is a great place for the Magnolia. They can bloom several times a year. Their shiny, broad, deep green leaves both reflect the sun and create shadows. The heady fragrance is only surpassed by the bright white velvet of new blossoms. It's petals turn from white to deepening shades of ivory, and then brown. This summer blossom has fully opened and gone from a bright velvety white to shades of ivory. The image was captured in Houston, Texas.
