At its western end, sixty miles from the jaws of Mediterranean Sea, at the bottom of Espana the city of Malaga flourishes. When the sun comes up in the morning, those facing east can stare out over the Med, 536 miles to Algiers in the crown of Africa. Watch the sun crest above the viewer's horizon. Watch its beams come racing toward Malaga. Here to a Spanish cactus stand, bristling, as anthropomorphic man and woman silhouetted against the enreddened Med and the yellowing sun.
