Description
The Mercantile National Bank building was completed in 1942. With special permission to continue it construction in a period of materials needed for the war effort, this was the only 'tower' completed during WWII. When completed it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi and was not eclipsed in Dallas until 1954. It contained 31 floor and with a total height of 523' (159 m). The former office building is now houses "Mercantile Place: Luxury Apartments In the Heart of Dallas".
