Description
In the 1870s, from the southern part of Texas, cowboys drove cattle northward, converging and consolidating into The Old Chisholm Cattle Trail at about Fort Worth before pushed onward, passing Decatur as they headed toward the Red River Station to ford the big red into Oklahoma, ending the cattle drive in Abilene, Kansas. Apropos, this photo was taken in the midst of a small herd of cattle, just north of Hwy 380 between the north Texas towns of Denton and (but closer to) Decatur.
