Houston is a great place for the Magnolia. The can bloom several times a year. Their shiny, broad, deep green leaves both reflect the sun and create shadows. The heady fragrance is only surpassed by the bright white velvet of new blossoms. It's petals turn from white to deepening shades of ivory, and then brown. This summer blossom past is prime has dropped it's seeds in it's velvety petals of aged ivory. The image was captured in Houston, Texas.
