Description
Juxtaposition is everything in a still life. Here the confluence of line, light and shadows creates horizontal, vertical and diagonal bars, at once opaque and transparent. From across the mall a life size billboard for "everything but Water" swimwear has a girl in a white bathing suit posed at the foot of a giant sculpture. She stares, forlornly I posit, as Barry Flanagan's (golden) "Large Leaping Hare, 1982," leaps over square steel tubes that I visualize as an iron briar patch. While on the wall above colored squares and math symbols give us a title and text: "red + green = yellow umber girl in her everything but water swimwear stands forlornly watching as the golden hare jumps over the iron briar patch".
