The Dallas Police Memorial in downtown Dallas honors those officer killed in the line of duty. There badge number are 'cut' out of the overhead allowing the sun to project that shining number onto the city's street below. Updated October 4, 2018.
Loosing buddies in battle as a soldier or "In The Line of Duty" as a police officer is a bitter severing of what was an unbreakable bond. That loss remains unresolved regardless of the passage of time. Soldiers and cops are citizens first... they become soldiers or cops, they are chosen from among you to serve you. To do the job of protecting you against those who would choose to harm you or your family. You ask them to do this job, at the risk of their own lives, because you are either unable or unwilling to put your own life on the line to protect the public in general, yourself or your loved ones.
